Morgan Counts Wins BTU Government in Action Essay Contest

BTU has selected four local high school students to send to Washington D.C. as part of the National Rural Electic Cooperative Association annual Government-in-Action Youth Tour.  Morgan's essay was one of the four that was selected.

Monday Awards and More at the 2013 Nationals

Caleb Postma finished 2nd in the 3pt competition at the 2013 Nationals Tournament

John Hale, Caleb Postma, and Meghan Snell were selected All State for Texas by the Home School Coaches

John Hale was named to the All American Watch list which consists of the top 31 homeschool basketball players in the Nation and from this list the All Americans will be selected.

National Tournament Information March 18-23

Team Parents and coaches will be asking each family whether the family is planning to have their child(ren) participate. Here is some information about the tournament We need to get an idea of who is planning on attending the National tournament in the next couple of weeks. Schedule The 2013 Nationals Schedule has been Changed We will be eliminating the "day off" for all teams this year in order to help keep travel expenses down. This compact schedule should save most families expenses for one day. Monday - Registration, Three Point Shooting Contest, Dunk Contest and Varsity Players Awards Ceremony. Tuesday - Varsity and Junior High Teams games start 8:30 AM Registration for (10U, 12U and 16U) Wednesday - Saturday - All teams play each day. Hotel We have secured the Sleep Inn at Springfield Mo for the National Basketball Tournament The cost of the Hotel will be 76.99 per night Group Name is BVCHEA Mustangs Sleep Inn Medical District 233 El Camino Alto Springfield, MO 65810 GM.MO023@choicehotels.com (417) 886-4121 (417) 886-2464 Fixed Cut Off Date: Monday, February 25, 2013 Must cancel 7 days before arrive to cancel your room with out expense Other Costs for Players/Families Registration Team Fee is between $450 and $500. That fee will be split evenly and each family will be expected to pay for their portion. For example, if the fee is $500 and 9 players participate on that team at Nationals, then the per child cost will be $55.56 for the player's share of the team registration fee. Also, in addition to the team registration fee, there will be a $30 per player registration fee. Mark Schulz will collect this for each participating player and send one check to the National Tournament for the entire program. Finally each family will pay for their travel, lodging, and meals. We encourage families to travel together and share expenses. If you travel in someone else's vehicle you are expected to share in those expenses.

Please make your reservation for the State Homeschool Basketball Tournament

Please make your reservation for the State Homeschool Basketball Tournament. We have rooms with 2 Queens beds in a block called BVCHEA Homeschool -(you can request kings if needed) at the rate of $72 plus tax. You will need to tell them it is for the block under BVCHEA homeschool- ask for Julio at 972-668-5555- he is the daytime manager and is familiar with our reservation. The hotel is Comfort Suites® Near Stonebriar Mall in The Colony. It is located a few miles from the tournament gym. The cost of the of the tournament registration will be about $45 per player (this is an additional fee above the regular season fee) plus the player/family will be responsible for expenses for travel, hotel and meals. When possible we encourage families to travel together and even possibly share hotel rooms to save on expenses. Team parents will be checking with player's parents to see who will be participating at the state tournament.
